Jakarta, IDN Times – PT Toyota-Astra Motor (TAM) managed to close 2022 well, after recording a sales volume of 331,410 units as a whole sales. This figure has increased by 12.1 percent compared to 2021, which is at the level of 295 thousand units.
With this achievement, Toyota claims to lead the national automotive market with a market share of 31.6 percent.
1. The composition of sales is dominated by MPV
Judging from its composition, Toyota’s sales in 2022 will still be dominated by the MPV segment which contributes 57.6 percent overall. Several Toyota MPV and SUV lines such as Avanza, Kijang Innova and Zenix, and Rush are still the people’s top choices. All three are Toyota’s best-selling products this year.
“In line with the improving national economy and increasing people’s purchasing power, it has had a positive impact on the sales performance of the automotive industry, including Toyota,” said Vice President of PT TAM, Henry Tanoto in his official broadcast.

Furthermore, from the electrification segment, it is showing a positive trend in 2022. Total sales, as a whole, are more than 4,463 units. This number has increased very significantly to 130 percent from 2021, which closed at the level of 1,935 units.
This achievement in the electrification segment was made possible through the presence of the first Battery Electric Vehicle (BEV), namely the Toyota bZ4X and the first locally produced hybrid car, the Kijang Innova Zenix. Meanwhile, for models from the Gazoo Racing (GR) brand, in 2022 the composition of sales on average will reach nearly 72 percent.
3. Attractive sales program in early 2023
In the first quarter of 2023, TAM is preparing various sales programs to stimulate the national automotive market. Consumers who purchase Avanza, Veloz, Rush and Kijang Innova Zenix have the option of using the Toyota Spectacular Package and are entitled to two years of free insurance benefits worth IDR 16 million and low rate package with interest up to zero percent.
“The presence of various sales programs is one of Toyota’s efforts in presenting Mobility for All for Indonesian people. Not only do we provide various mobility solutions, we also make it easier for the general public to access Toyota products,” said PT TAM Marketing Director, Anton Jimmi Suwandy.
